Interventional Cardiologist Burak Arkonac, MD, of Linwood, has joined Deborah Specialty Physicians, with privileges at Deborah Heart and Lung Center.
Board certified in interventional cardiology, Dr. Arkonac earned his medical degree at Istanbul University, School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. After medical school, he completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. He worked in research on molecular cardiology at Harvard University, T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, MA followed by a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He also holds a Master’s in Health Administration from Columbia University, Mailman School of Public Health.
Dr. Arkonac joins Deborah from AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center where he served as Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Labs and the Heart Institute. He previously practiced in New York at Northwell Health, Southside Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center and St. Francis Heart Hospital.
He has participated in several clinical trials and has published in peer-reviewed journals such as Pharmacology, The Journal of Heart-Lung Transplantation, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and Circulation. Dr. Arkonac’s special interests include interventional and preventive cardiology, complex coronary artery and peripheral vascular disease.
