Deborah Heart and Lung Center Appoints Evan Nevel, DO, as Cardiologist

S. Justin Szawlewicz, MD, Cardiology Chair at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, has announced the appointment of Evan Matthew Nevel, DO, to the cardiology department.

Dr. Nevel holds his medical degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He served his residency at Hackensack Meridian Health, and did his Fellowship at Deborah Heart and Lung Center.

Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology, Dr. Nevel is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, and the New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Nevel has published widely in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association and the Journal of Biological Chemistry and has presented at numerous professional conferences and symposia. Since 2013 Dr. Nevel has been involved in various research projects.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Nevel join our cardiology team,” said Dr. Szawlewicz. “Since he did his Fellowship training here, Dr. Nevel is already fully up to speed with our organization, and has already developed a very loyal patient base. It is wonderful when we can train and retain talented specialists.”

In his spare time, Dr. Nevel enjoys ice hockey, football, traveling, military history, and SCUBA diving, including holding a PADI certification for advanced open water diving.
