Annual Red Tie Gala Raises Funds for Cardiac Care

Sena Sumathisena, MD Honored for 50 Years at Deborah

Deborah Hospital Foundation’s 18th Annual Red Tie Gala held on Sat. Nov. 11 at the Hilton at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia raised over $250,000 for cardiac care at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, New Jersey’s only specialty heart, lung and vascular hospital.

Cardiologist Sena Sumathisena, MD was honored at the Gala for his 50 years serving Deborah’s patients. CEO Joe Chirichella thanked Dr. Sumathisena for his “unwavering commitment to providing the highest quality patient care.”

Board-certified in cardiovascular disease, Dr. Sena completed his residency in internal medicine at Atlantic City Hospital. He arrived at Deborah as a cardiology fellow. Over the years, Dr. Sena participated in countless research projects and authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals.

In honor of his 50th anniversary at Deborah, Dr. Sena was thanked for his “endless contributions to medical education, his friendship, his insight to all he met and his steadfast care of cardiology patients.”
