In 1958, Deborah Heart and Lung Center was the first hospital in New Jersey to perform open heart surgery. Our team of elite cardiothoracic surgeons actually performed two surgeries that day – on both an adult and a child. Deborah is rated in the top 10% of hospitals in the country for cardiac surgery (CABG) and in the top 7% of hospitals in the country for aortic valve replacement (AVR) surgery. The heart surgery program at Deborah is one of only 18 hospitals in the state performing open heart surgery. We perform over 500 open heart procedures each year.
